Getting started
What the first conversation looks like and how quickly a site can be live.
A security consultant walks the property with you, notes the approach routes, blind spots, lighting and existing hardware, then designs the camera layout around them. You get a written plan and a fixed monthly price. There is no charge and no obligation to continue.
Most installations are completed within one to three business days of approving the plan, and monitoring begins the moment the last camera is commissioned. Sites that need a mobile surveillance unit rather than fixed cameras can often be covered the same week the unit is scheduled.
Someone with access to the building and the network needs to be reachable, but you do not have to shadow the crew. We schedule around your operating hours, and on commercial sites most of the work happens before opening or after close so nothing is disrupted.
No. The same monitoring service runs on a four-camera yard and on a multi-building industrial campus. What changes is the number of cameras and the hours you want watched, and both of those are decided at the survey. See the industries we cover.
Pricing & contracts
What you pay, what is bundled into it, and how easily you can leave.
AI Powered. There is no equipment bill and no installation invoice - you pay one flat monthly monitoring fee, and the hardware, installation, maintenance and 24/7 live monitoring are all included in it. The quote you get after the survey is the price you pay.
Three things: how many cameras the site needs, how many hours a day they are actively watched, and whether the site needs extras such as a mobile surveillance unit or on-site guards. Nothing else is added later - call-outs, firmware updates and replacement hardware are all inside the fee.
Monitoring runs month to month. There is no multi-year lock-in and no cancellation penalty - if the service stops being worth the fee, you give notice and we recover the equipment. Seasonal sites routinely pause over the quiet months and restart later.
Substantially, for most sites. One guard covers one place at one time; a monitored camera network watches every corner of the property at once and never loses attention at 4am. Where a physical presence genuinely matters, hybrid security pairs the cameras with guards so you are only paying for the hours a person is needed.
Monitoring & response
Who is watching, what they do when something moves, and how fast.
Both, in that order. AI analytics watch every camera continuously and raise only the events that match a real threat pattern; a trained operator in our Vancouver centre then looks at the live feed and decides what is actually happening. Software finds it, a person judges it. How live monitoring works.
Activity is flagged within seconds of appearing on camera. The operator verifies it, then acts - usually a live voice-down through the on-site speaker, which ends most intrusions on its own. If it does not, they escalate to police or your keyholder immediately, with verified video attached to the call.
The analytics are trained to classify what crossed the line, not simply that pixels changed, so raccoons, blowing tarps, snow and passing headlights are filtered out before anyone is contacted. On top of that, an operator sees the footage before any escalation, so a false alarm never reaches the police.
Yes. The centre is staffed 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, and your site can be covered around the clock or only during the windows you pick. Many businesses start with nights and weekends, then extend the schedule once they have read a few months of incident reports.
Cameras & installation
The hardware itself - what goes up, what stays, and what happens when it breaks.
In most cases, yes. If your existing CCTV is ONVIF-compatible and the image holds up after dark, we connect it to our platform rather than replace it. We confirm that at the survey and tell you honestly which cameras are worth keeping and which are not.
4K cameras with infrared night vision, virtual perimeter fencing and two-way audio, wired back to a recorder on site and streamed to the monitoring centre. Where a site has no power or network, a solar mobile surveillance unit provides the same coverage on its own tower.
We do. Maintenance, firmware updates and replacement hardware are part of the monthly fee, and because the centre sees every camera continuously we usually know a unit has dropped before you do. Vandalised cameras are replaced under the same terms.
Recording continues locally, so nothing is lost, and the monitoring centre is alerted the moment a site stops reporting in - an outage is treated as an event, not as silence. Sites with unreliable service can be fitted with battery backup and a cellular failover link.
Coverage & service area
Where we install, where we monitor, and whether distance changes anything.
All of it - from Metro Vancouver and the Fraser Valley through the Okanagan, the Kootenays, Vancouver Island and the north. We also work elsewhere in Canada. Find your city.
No. Monitoring runs from our Vancouver centre over your internet connection, so an operator sees a yard in Fort St. John exactly as quickly as one in Burnaby. What changes with distance is the police or keyholder drive time, which is why the voice-down matters so much on remote sites.
Yes, and multi-site operators usually should. Every property sits under one account with one monthly invoice, one set of reports and one escalation list, so a regional manager can see incidents across the whole portfolio instead of chasing separate providers.
Privacy & compliance
Who can see your footage, how long it is kept, and the licensing behind it.
You, and the operators assigned to your account. Access is logged, transmission is encrypted end to end, and footage is released to a third party only when you ask for it or when law enforcement produces a lawful request. Recordings are never used for anything but your site's security.
Yes. Nexo Monitoring operates from a ULC-S301 certified monitoring centre, is licensed and insured for security work in British Columbia, and handles all recorded footage in line with PIPEDA, Canada's federal privacy legislation.
Within limits, and the survey is where those limits get drawn. Cameras cover entrances, yards, stock areas and approach routes; they do not go in washrooms, change rooms or break rooms, and staff must be notified that recording takes place. We design the layout so it is defensible under Canadian privacy law from day one.
The one question left is about your site.
Every property has a detail no FAQ covers - a gate that never locks, a yard the neighbours cut through, a camera that has been dead for a year. Tell us yours.
